The Award

The Ramin Tadayoni Award aims to honour the legacy of Professor Ramin Tadayoni by recognising and supporting outstanding post-graduate scholars in the field of retina research.

This annual award of €30,000, plus an additional €5,000 for the candidate, seeks to encourage innovative research with the potential to significantly advance the understanding and treatment of retinal diseases.

The award is supported by Oculis & Ocular Therapeutix.

Eligibility Criteria

– Applicants must be post-doctoral or clinical fellows conducting research in the retina field in a specialised retinal unit or university hospital in a European country*.

– Applicants must hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D. and have completed their most recent doctoral degree or medical residency within the past ten years by the start of this award in 2027.

Applications for the award close on Wednesday 24th June 2026 23:59 CEST. The winning applicant will be chosen by a panel of leading retina specialists.

*For the purposes of this award, a ‘European country’ includes all member states of the European Union (EU), countries within the European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Review Process and Judging Criteria

The review process happens across two rounds. 

In Round 1, each qualifying submission is reviewed independently by two members of the review panel. 

In the Final Round, each finalist is reviewed by all four members of the panel.

The Judging Criteria used to review candidates and the respective weighting of each section are as follows:

  • Abstract quality (max 5 points)
  • Proposal quality (max 10 points)
  • Quality of top five publications (max 10 points)
  • Quality and quantity of publications in CV (max 10 points)
  • Quality of grant funding/ research awards/ fellowships in CV (max 10 points)
  • Evidence of Euretina activity (max 2 points)
