Abstract
Purpose: Fluorescein angiography detects all stages of ischemia, micro aneurysm and neovascularization which can be missed on color photo and OCT.Setting: Single Retina doctor in a private practice
Methods: Rétrospective chart review of 100 diabetic patients with diabetes. Heidelberg fluorescein angiography and OCT review for diabetic retinopathy.
Results: Diabetic retinopathy with moderate and severe ischemia May show little vascular damage on color photos. FA using both video and still photography with the Heidelberg detected high risk diabetics. Treatment protocols with anti VEGF and selective laser treatment reduced progression of diabetic retinopathy.
Conclusions: Fluorescein angiography is important in clinical management of diabetic patients. Selection of high risk diabetic patients for treatment is crucial in protecting vision.
