The EURETINA Special Focus Meeting on Artificial Intelligence in Retina, taking place in London on 7 March 2026, will bring together clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders to explore how AI is transforming every aspect of retinal care.
Aimed at both experienced ophthalmologists and trainees, the one-day programme will provide a comprehensive overview of current applications, emerging technologies, and the ethical and clinical challenges ahead.
From image-based diagnostics and large language models to robotics and clinical trials, the meeting will examine how AI tools are reshaping research, practice, and patient outcomes. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to critically assess, adopt, and integrate these technologies into daily clinical work.
The programme will include engaging sessions on AI in Maculopathies, Large Language Models, AI in Clinical Trials, Foundations for Responsible AI in Retina, AI in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Robotics, and AI in Vascular Disease. In addition, a Keynote Lecture on “The Future of AI in Retina: Bridging Technology and Clinical Practice” will be given by Pearse Keane.
In summary, the 2026 Special Focus Meeting offers a timely and essential exploration of how Artificial Intelligence is redefining the landscape of retinal medicine — from research and diagnostics to surgery and beyond.
