Programme Submission Terms & Conditions

Submissions for Instructional Course, Symposia and World Retina Day are now closed. 
Submissions closed on 11th December, 12:00 Noon CET.

Introduction

The 24th Euretina Congress will take place both in person in Barcelona and online. Chairpersons and faculty of all Instructional Courses will be strongly encouraged to contribute in person where possible, and to make their presentations available on the On-Demand platform after the Congress takes place. Virtual talks (maximum of one per session) may be facilitated at the discretion of the Course Chair where a speaker is deemed critical to a session and face-to-face attendance is not possible.

The goal of Euretina Instructional Courses is to provide participants with didactic information on specific subjects covered by experts in the field. There should be a focus on teaching and ample time should be left for questions and answers.

All Instructional Courses will be 60 minutes in duration.

The Board of Euretina aspires to increase the diversity and inclusiveness of its teaching faculty, while simultaneously encouraging future leaders in the field. Please note that age, gender and ethnicity across the faculty will be taken into account by the Programme Committee when accepting programme content. Applications which do not reasonably reflect these diversity and inclusivity aspirations will not be accepted.   

Terms & Conditions

– Each applicant may submit a maximum of 2 Instructional Course proposals.
– Each application must indicate whether the chairperson/s, or any of the faculty members, has a financial interest in the subject matter or receives funds from any mentioned company.
– Each 60-minute course must include a minimum of 15 minutes discussion time.

Format

Please consider the following formats when compiling your course:                 

1. Didactic presentations with scheduled questions and answers managed by the course organiser.
2. Case presentations/discussion between panellists with audience involvement.
3. Hands-on skills transfer courses.                                                 

All submissions should include the following information:

Title (Max 20 words): The title of the course should be explicit but not exceed 20 words.

Description (Max 150 words): Precise description of the subject to be covered in the course.

Objectives (Max 200 words): A succinct statement explaining the background of why this topic should be addressed at the annual meeting and the planned learned outcomes for those who attend the session which completes the sentence “At the conclusion of this course the attendee will be able to…”

Schedule (Max 300 words): Provide a running order for the session listing chairpersons, provisional speakers and presentation topics.

Course Level (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced): To help potential applicants of the FEBO-R Subspecialty Exam, please rate the level of your course to a potential applicant of this course.

Review and Evaluation

– All submitted course proposals will be reviewed before final selection is made with courses ranked according to their average score.
– The submission and review process applies to both new and repeat Instructional Course proposals.
– New course proposals will be judged solely on the quality of the proposal.
– Specific topics that need to be covered in the congress programme will be considered when making the final selection of accepted sessions. The decision of the Programme Committee is final.
– If your session proposal is accepted, you will be informed of this by email by the end of February 2024.

All Symposia will be 60 minutes in duration.

Please note that age, gender and ethnicity across the faculty will be taken into account by the Programme Committee when accepting programme content.  Applications which do not reasonably reflect these diversity and inclusivity aspirations will not be accepted.

– Each applicant may submit a maximum of 2 Symposium proposals.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a well-defined topic with practical implications. (For instance,‘Advantages and drawbacks of various anti-VEGFs injection regimen in AMD’ rather than ‘Anti-VEGFs in AMD’) and to provide the name of the organising Society/Subgroup.

Description (Max 150 words): Precise description of the subject to be covered in the Symposium.

Objectives (Max 200 words): A succinct statement explaining the background of why this topic should be addressed at the annual meeting and the planned learned outcomes for those who attend the session.

Schedule (Max 300 words): Provide a running order for the session listing chairpersons, provisional speakers and presentation topics.

The goal of World Retina Day is to provide a platform for national societies or subgroups to focus on the latest updates or pressing issues that are affecting retina specialists in their country or subgroup.

All World Retina Day Symposia will be 60 minutes in duration.

Please note that age, gender and ethnicity across the faculty will be taken into account by the Programme Committee when accepting programme content.  Applications which do not reasonably reflect these diversity and inclusivity aspirations will not be accepted.
