Sustainability at 25th EURETINA Congress Paris
EURETINA is proud to host its 25th Annual Congress in Paris—an iconic European city with excellent rail connections and a strong commitment to sustainable mobility. Building on the progress of recent years, we continue to advance our sustainability strategy, measure our environmental impact, and raise our standards year on year.
Many of these initiatives depend on the active engagement of our community. We invite you to join us to make the 25th EURETINA Congress our most sustainable edition to date.
How You Can Help
- Travel Responsibly: Whenever possible, travel to Paris by train—many European cities are connected within just a few hours. More details are available in the Travel section.
- Use Public Transport: The Paris Metro, RER and bus network provide fast, affordable connections between the congress venue and your accommodation. See the Travel section for more information.
- Offset Emissions: If travel by car or plane is necessary, consider offsetting your CO₂ emissions through certified compensation schemes.
- Sort Your Waste: Help us reduce landfill waste by using the colour-coded recycling bins for paper, plastic/metal, and general waste. A few seconds of attention make a big difference.
- Bring Reusables: We are not producing reusable bottles as part of this year’s congress so please travel with your own refillable water bottle or reusable coffee cup to minimise single-use waste.
- Plan Virtual Meetings: Use our digital networking tools to follow up with colleagues—without needing an extra trip.
EURETINA Initiatives
- Digital Participation: As a hybrid event, the Congress allows delegates to join selected sessions remotely via live stream—significantly reducing travel-related emissions.
- Sustainable Catering: We have eliminated red meat from our menus, offering only vegetarian, vegan and white meat options. Surplus food will be redistributed where safe and feasible.
- Dedicated sustainability programme: Selected sessions will address environmental responsibility, including topics such as sustainability and waste reduction in the clinical setting.
- Minimal Printing: Programmes, flyers and evaluation forms are made available digitally on our mobile app and web portal.
- Digital Signage: Energy-efficient LED displays replace paper signage in key areas, including session halls and the exhibition space.
- Exhibition Flooring: No carpeting in main aisles to reduce waste. Exhibitors are encouraged to use modular, reusable booth constructions.
- Waste Management: Clearly labelled bins for recycling, organic waste, and residual waste are available throughout the venue to encourage responsible disposal.
- Plastic-Free Zone: Water refill stations are provided in place of single-use bottles and no plastic cups are used.
- Energy Conservation: Climate control systems will be set to the minimum required levels to optimise energy efficiency.
- Transparent Communication: A full sustainability report for the 25th EURETINA Congress—including the event’s carbon footprint—will be published after the event. The 2024 report is available here.
