Public transport to the Venue

Reaching the Vienna Congress & Convention Center (VIECON) is both efficient and eco-friendly using the U2 underground line. The station Messe-Prater is located directly at the entrance.

VIECON is only a 10-minute journey from the city centre and approximately 15–20 minutes from Vienna Main Station (Hauptbahnhof). In many cases, public transport is faster than travelling by taxi through city traffic.

Important notice for October 2026: Vienna’s S-Bahn main line between Wien Hauptbahnhof and Wien Praterstern is closed for major renovation works from 7 September 2026 until late October 2027. The routes below reflect this. We recommend checking current timetables via the Wiener Linien journey planner or ÖBB before travelling.

Routes to VIECON

  • From Vienna Main Station (Hauptbahnhof): Take the U1 underground line (direction Leopoldau) to Praterstern, then change to the U2 line (direction Seestadt) to Messe-Prater (approx. 15–20 minutes). Please note that the S-train alternative to Praterstern is not available during the closure period.
  • From Vienna International Airport (VIE): Several options are available during the closure:

 ○ Railjet / long-distance train: ÖBB Railjet and Intercity trains continue to run from the airport to Wien Hauptbahnhof. From there, take the U1 to Praterstern and change to the U2 to Messe-Prater.

 ○ S7 (shortened route): The S7 will terminate at St. Marx rather than Praterstern. From St. Marx, take tram line 18 (extended to U2 station Stadion), then one stop on the U2 to Messe-Prater.

 ○ CAT (City Airport Train): The CAT will operate a premium replacement bus service between Vienna Airport and Wien Mitte/Landstraße instead of a train. From Wien Mitte, take tram 18 towards Stadion, then the U2 to Messe-Prater.

  • From City Centre (e.g., Stephansplatz): Take the U1 underground line (direction Leopoldau) to Praterstern. Change there to the U2 line (direction Seestadt) to Messe-Prater (approx. 12 minutes). This route is unaffected by the S-Bahn closure.

Public transport to the Venue

The Vienna core zone covers all public transport within Vienna, i.e. buses, trams, underground trains, and ÖBB trains. Please note that journeys to and from Vienna Airport are excluded.

If you need an additional ticket from the airport to your hotel or for an extended stay in Vienna, you may purchase tickets via the smartphone app WienMobil or online at the Shop WienMobil.
● The standard single-journey fare is €3.00 (when purchased digitally via the app) or €3.20 (for paper tickets), valid for one trip within Vienna.
● For the connection from the airport, a combined single ticket costs €5.40.

You can plan your journey online using the WienMobil app or website as well as Google Maps or Apple Maps.

Cycling & Walking

Vienna is a bike-friendly city, and VIECON is easily reachable by bike — just 15 minutes from the city centre. We are pleased to offer all congress participants free access to bicycles during the event. Simply use your voucher code to unlock a bike and enjoy 60 minutes of free riding. Voucher codes will be shared with participants ahead of the congress.

More details to be announced shortly.
