Euretina is proud to host its 26th Annual Congress in Vienna, a city in the center of Europe with excellent rail connections, public transport and bike infrastructure. Building on the successes of recent years, according to our sustainability strategy we measure our impact and continuously raise our standards. Some initiatives rely on your active support – please join us in reducing the per-person-emissions of 26th Euretina Congress 2026 compared to previous editions! We aim at organising the Congress according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings for the first time. 

Euretina Initiatives

• Digital Participation: The Congress is a hybrid event, thus you can follow sessions in the live stream at home and save a significant amount of travel emissions.
• Sustainable Catering: Menus feature vegetarian and vegan options at every meal; surplus food donated where safe.
• Programme dedicated to sustainability: Sessions specifically on sustainability or waste reduction are offered.
• Reduced Printing: Necessary materials are printed on recycled raw materials. All materials are also available in our mobile app and web portal.
• Digital Signage: LED screens replace paper posters in main halls and exhibition areas.
• Exhibition Flooring: Carpet only in very limited areas, only fully recyclable carpet, option for modular, reusable booth constructions to the exhibitors via a supplier.
• Waste Management: Clearly labelled bins for recycling, organic waste and residual waste throughout the venue.
• Plastic-Free Zone: Water refill stations replace single-use bottles, no plastic cups and minimized single-use packaging.
• Energy Conservation: Climate control systems set to minimum required levels.
• Communication: The sustainability report of 26th Euretina Congress including carbon footprint will be shared publicly after the congress.

What’s New in 2026

• Green Meetings Certificate Austria: We aim at organising the 26th Euretina Congress according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings for the first time.
• Dedicated sustainability guidelines for exhibitors
• As a Euretina 2026 delegate, you can purchase an unlimited Vienna public transport ticket at an exclusive 20% discounted Congress rate. The ticket is valid from 29 September to 5 October 2026 and covers travel by underground, tram, bus and S-Bahn within Vienna’s core public transport zone.

Simply add the ticket during your individual Congress registration.

How You Can Help

Join us in making Euretina 2026 in Vienna our most sustainable congress yet. With several simple steps you can reduce your impact:

• Travel Responsibly: If possible, arrive by train; Vienna is connected to many European capitals within hours. More Information available in the Travel section.
• Use Public Transport within Vienna: The Subway, tram and buses offer fast links between the venue and hotels. Benefit from the discounted Congress rate. Please consult the travel section or preferred maps app for more info.
• Sort Your Waste: Look for color-coded bins for paper, plastics/metal and residuals; a few seconds of care makes a big difference.
• Bring Reusables: Refillable water bottle or coffee mug.
• Offset Emissions: If you need to arrive by car or plane, offset your CO2e emissions by equalization payments. Offsetting does not undo your emissions and reduction should be preferred, however it can be a beneficial contribution to climate protection.
• Go Paperless: Download session materials and e-badges rather than printing.
• Plan Virtual Meetings: Use our digital networking platform to arrange follow-up with colleagues instead of extra trips.
