Euretina is proud to host its 26th Annual Congress in Vienna, a city in the center of Europe with excellent rail connections and a commitment to green mobility. Building on the successes of recent years, according to our sustainability strategy we measure our impact and continuously raise our standards. We aim at organising the Congress according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings for the first time.

How You Can Help

• Travel Responsibly: If possible, arrive by train; Vienna is connected to many European capitals within hours. More Information available in the Travel section.
• Use Public Transport within Vienna: The Subway, tram and buses offer fast, affordable links between the venue and hotels. Please consult the travel section for how to get your ticket.
• Sort Your Waste: Look for color-coded bins for paper, plastics/metal and residuals; a few seconds of care makes a big difference.
• Bring Reusables: Refillable water bottle or coffee mug.
• Offset Emissions: If you need to arrive by car or plane, offset your CO2e emissions by equalization payments.
• Go Paperless: Download the congress app.
• Plan Virtual Meetings: Use our digital networking platform to arrange follow-up with colleagues instead of extra trips.

Euretina Initiatives

• Digital Participation: The Congress is a hybrid event, thus you can follow sessions in the live stream at home and save significant amount of travel emissions.
• Sustainable Catering: We no longer include meat on our menus for official Euretina events, focussing instead on vegetarian and vegan options.
• Programme dedicated to sustainability: Sessions specifically on sustainability or waste reduction are offered.
• Reduced Printing: Necessary materials are printed on recycled raw materials. All materials are also available in our mobile app and web portal.
• Digital Signage: LED screens replace paper posters in main halls and exhibition areas.
• Exhibition Flooring: Carpeting has been significantly reduced in all areas including the exhibition space.
• Waste Management: Clearly labelled bins for recycling, organic waste and residual waste throughout the venue.
• Plastic-Free Zone: Water refill stations replace single-use bottles, no plastic cups and minimized single-use packaging.
• Energy Conservation: Climate control systems set to minimum required levels.
• Communication: The sustainability report of 26th Euretina Congress including carbon footprint will be shared publicly after the congress.
