To present a multimodal imaging based review of a case of unexpected loss of vision 2 days post cataract surgery.
Setting/Venue
A tertiary care centre for ocular sciences.
Methods
A 46 year old female presented with loss of vision 2 days post an uneventful cataract surgery . Multimodal imaging alongwith a review history lead to an unexpected diagnosis and treatment plan. The patient was diagnosed with an arterial occlusion and a history of multiple abortions lead to an immune workup explaining ANA positivity . We thought out of the box for something which could help and advised hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Results
HBOT lead to an improvement in vision from BCVA of CFCF to BCVA of 6/24. A close follow up of this case using multi modal imaging helped us titrate therapy with a multidisciplinary approach. Which finally lead to complete resolution of the fundus signs and visual improvement . The 2 year follow up is depicted in our study.
Conlusions
Multimodal imaging along with a timely innovative intervention with medical management and HBOT lead to the correct diagnosis and optimum treatment of this horrendous phaco sequelae.
