Unilateral progressive vision loss in a patient with sickle cell disease.His ophthalmologic examination revealed bilateral retinopathy (stage 3 on the right. eye and stage 2 on the left eye).the treatment consisted of laser photocoagulation on the ischemic areas.
Conlusions
Patients with sickle cell disease should have regular eye examinations to prevent complications from neovascularization.
